Haunted House-A mystery story

Haunted House Story

Haunted House Story

West of Los Angeles, under the mountains, lies Marsh Hollow , a foggy area . Few have heard of the area, and even fewer have visited it. But everyone knows the stories about the old castle that surrounds the area – Basker Mansion .

One dark night, at 10:41 PM, my phone rang. I was reading a crime novel by the light of my table lamp at the time. When the phone rings at such times, it is not an urgent call. But this call… changed my life.

“Mr. Thomas Blake?” – a cold voice.

“Yes… speaking.”

“We need your help. Something terrible happened at the Basker Mansion. Can you come?”

I didn’t know what to say for a moment. Basker Mansion was a haunted house story I knew. I’d read a hundred stories about it in the paper. But to be called from there myself… this was unusual.

First journey – towards Marsh Hollow

I borrowed an old SUV from a friend. When the navigation stopped working, the fog turned into a curtain.
I reached the gate at 1:15 am. The gate wasn’t wide open. But I felt like someone was watching. There was no light anywhere around. There was only a faint light coming from one window in the house.

I slowly opened the gate and went inside.

Mr. Reginald Basker – Haunted House Story Begins

As soon as I entered the house, a strange smell wafted from the cool breeze on my cheek. It mixed with the smell of old wood and damp walls, something else… it felt like dirt, or a dead body.

“Mr. Blake?” – an old man asked, slowly descending the stairs.

“Yes. You must be Mr. Reginald Basker?”

“Correct. Come, we must speak privately.”

He took me to the small study next to the living room. That’s where the real haunted house story began.

A noise in the darkness

“My grandson, Henry Basker – he has been in this house since last week. As far as we know, he goes somewhere at night. Even if the door to the room is closed, he is back in bed by dawn.”

“And what’s the problem?” I asked.

“Every night, a loud noise is heard behind him. There is no one around. But he does not appear to be alone. Some people have seen a large black deer-like creature with him.”

This story sounded like a haunted house story I had read. But I didn’t believe it was true until Mr. Basker told me.

Henry’s Room – A Quiet Wind

At 3:00 a.m. I went to Henry’s room. The door looked wet. When I stepped inside, there were handprints on the wall. Claw marks on the floor – soft as if the nails were blue.

There was a book next to the bed. “Creatures of the Cursed Moors” – this is not science fiction. It is a diary based on true events written by an author. There is a chapter in it titled ‘Black Hound of Marsh Hollow’.

“They say it howls when the moon disappears. It follows the bloodline of the Baskers. If you see it, someone dies.”

The son’s scream – not in his sleep

That same day, at 4:05 in the morning, my son suddenly screamed.

“NOOO! Get away from me!”

I immediately ran over. Henry was not asleep. But he was screaming as if he was looking at someone in the room. “A deer… a big black deer. It’s going to take me,” he cried in fear.

I glanced out the window once… and then… I saw two large shapes moving in the fog. One was a man… the other an animal.

End of the first night – the fear is beginning

I was awake all night. Those claw marks before my eyes, that scream. To me, this didn’t seem like a mentally disturbed boy. This was something unusual.

This Haunted House Story is still a long way off. But so far, one thing is clear to me:

This is no ordinary crime story. This is a battle between human nature and dark beliefs.

The next morning, fear still roamed the rooms. The Basker Mansion was silent, but the silence was not natural… it felt like a waiting mystery. Henry hadn’t said much that morning. The tremor in his eyes hadn’t gone away.

I went to the study and met Mr. Baskar.

“Did you tell me what happened last night?” I asked.

He shook his head slowly.

“Henry dreamed about a large creature dragging him into the woods… and when we checked his feet this morning, they were covered in dried mud.”

It’s clear that this is no ordinary waking horror. This is a haunted house story on a whole other level.

🔎 Old Documents – The History Behind the Castle

I’m looking for old records at home. There’s a storage trap door under the wall of an old room. If you open it and go inside, you’ll find an old trunk, containing old files, notes, and an old map belonging to the Baskar family.

There is a letter in the files – written by Reginald Basker Sr. in 1893. It says:

“The hound appears when the land is angered. Every third generation pays the price for our greed. Let this be recorded: Marsh Hollow is cursed.”

This is how the Haunted House Story of the Baskar family was born. But now it’s not history… it’s coming to light.

🌫️ Footsteps in Marsh Hollow

That evening I walked outside the mansion towards Marsh Hollow. There was an old wooden fence there, and as you went past it into the forest, you could see the claw marks in the dirt – as clear as a Ganesha path.

But the strange thing is, they stop there. The claw marks left in the middle of the forest soil… they’re not going anywhere, they’re not even coming from anywhere.

There, under a small tree, was a wooden box. It looked like an old cemetery marker. When you opened it, you saw a small black cloth, next to it a locket, with an engraving on it:

“To my son, from your mother – Be safe from the curse.”

💭 The shadow that greeted Henry

We woke up again in the mansion that night. Henry started screaming again. This time, when we all went into the room, he was not in bed.

The back door of the room is open. Next to it is a word written – as if written in blood:

“Follow the path where the howls begin.”

At 3:27 PM, a fear thicker than fog is creeping into the heart. This is a haunted house story that leads us down an unknown path.

🐾 Roars heard all around

The three of us – me, Mr. Basker, and the servant Harold – went out together with flashlights. The same claw marks were on the path again. These were wet like water droplets this time.

As we went deeper, we heard a roar from somewhere. It wasn’t a dog’s roar… it was the roar of a large creature, but there was something painful about it.

At the same time, I felt a shadow move behind the tree next to us. When I turned the flashlight back…

…A large black shape, two red eyes… For a moment… and then a roar into the sky.

Harold collapsed there with a heart attack.

💀 First death

It took us a long time to get Harold to the mansion. But he was already dead. That’s when Mr. Basker put his hand on his head and said:

“It has started again.”

There was no fear in his voice… a belief – that this ancient curse had come back to life. Now death had begun in this Haunted House Story.

📓 Page I viewed

I’m sitting in my room at night, flipping through that book, Creatures of the Cursed Moors . There’s a line in it:

“The creature cannot be seen by everyone. Only those who carry guilt or fear can sense it. And it feeds on unresolved truth.”

I understand – this is not a mind game. This is not a spirit animal. This is a cursed animal that lives on lies. This is not the punishment that haunts the Baskar family, but their mistakes.

After the night of Harold’s death, not only the walls of the mansion… but also everyone’s silence had been shattered. Henry had not yet returned from the hospital. Mr. Basker’s face had changed. It was not hardened fear in Mission’s eyes — it seemed as if some old, unresolved mistake had been flashed.

It didn’t stop there. When I woke up in the morning, there was a small piece of paper lying on the table in my room.

“Blake, he’s hiding something. Check the cellar. The past never sleeps.”

Who is the real person in this haunted house story… who is pretending is still unknown. But this note – it seemed to be written by Lauren. Lauren is Mr. Basker’s younger daughter. The girl who left the mansion a few years ago.

📦 The mentality hidden in the Cellar

The back is next to the cellar door. It’s actually a secret door hidden in the walls rather than a door. If you lift the old bookshelf, you’ll see a small stone staircase behind it.

I slowly went downstairs. It was very dark inside, the floor was damp, and there were old blood stains on the walls.

In the light of a lantern flickering in the corner, a drawing emerged from an old box. It looked like it had been drawn by a child — a large black dog, a small house next to it, and a family in front of it. And in a handwritten note:

“Daddy said the hound will protect us from the bad man.”

In this Haunted House Story, the hound is not a threat. It is depicted as a protector. Who is protecting? Who is saving?

💬 The changed tone in Mr. Baskar’s words

Mr. Baskar didn’t eat anything at dinner time that night. Instead, he looked at me once and said softly:

“Blake, do you believe in inherited guilt?”

“So?”

“If a family makes a mistake, do their children deserve the punishment?”

It’s now clear where the real story lies in this Haunted House Story. It’s about a family’s wrongdoing and the revenge it entails.

📚 What I know about Lauren

Lauren Basker – Mr. Basker’s youngest daughter. She went missing from the mansion at the time. According to some stories, she had become mentally unstable. But her disappearance was also ruled a mystery.

I looked in an old phone directory and found an entry for “Lauren Basker – Tucson, AZ.” I called immediately. It picked up.

“Hello?” – a frightened voice.

“Lauren? This is Thomas Blake, investigator from LA. I’m at the Basker Mansion.”

The phone went silent right there. Then she said one word:

“If you saw the hound, you’re already part of the curse.”

🌒 Another roar – another night

At 2:16 that night, there was another loud roar. This time, when Henry returned to bed, he had a small black ball in his hands. It wasn’t a bouncing ball. It seemed to be made entirely of ash.

It is written next to it:

“Not a toy. A warning.”

Some terrible mistake made by the Baskar family is still bearing fruit.

🧠 The real turning point I realized

After thinking carefully, it became clear to me – The hound isn’t the threat. It’s the shield.

It works like a guardian. But there is one rule – it works for honesty. It punishes evil.

Mr. Baskar has a crime on his hands. He is trying to cover it up. That is not imagination – that is the truth.

🧾 Last seen clue

That night, an envelope slipped out of an old book in the library room.

There is a letter in it. Title: Confession Letter – 1973
In it, in the handwriting of Baskar Sr.:

“We buried him in the woods. He screamed for help. But we said it was justice.”

In the early morning, the mansion was shrouded in thick fog, just like yesterday. But today… I believe that the true meaning of this haunted house story is near.

It is not yet clear who is the sinner and who is the victim in the family before me – the Baskars. But one thing is clear: this entity called ‘Hound’ is a guardian, a training, a secret symbol in their history.

📞 Lauren called again

After seeing that letter, those old blood-ink words, I called Lauren once.

This time she spoke slowly:

“Blake… If you’re still alive, the Hound didn’t stop you. That means you’re looking for the truth.”

“Our family once… unjustly tortured a boy. His name was Reben. He was the son of an employee who worked at the mansion. My grandfather did a greater wrong to him than the injury.”

“The words of our magic that we said after he died have come true. The day the ‘Hound’ comes, the blood of the accused will be shed.”

“Now Henry is the entity he is connected to. He is the only memory Reben has left.”

📖 Who is Hound?

According to Lauren, the Hound is not an animal. It is a force of nature transformed into a form for justice. Only the innocent, or those seeking the truth, can see it.

In this haunted house story, the ‘hound’ looks scary. But it scares away the darkness, not increases it.

Henry – He doesn’t know what. But every day a new mark appears on his body. These could be like the ‘mark of guilt’ in the Bible that we saw.

🐾 Mr. Baskar’s last confession

And that same night, in the study room, Mr. Baskar took out his old notebook and looked at me and said:

“You already know, don’t you?”

“What I know is not enough, Mr. Baskar. You have to accept it.”

He took a slow breath. Although his words were few, his heart was filled with excitement.

“We covered the body in the hollow, under the blackstone tree. We said it was a wolf attack. But it was us. My brother… I was young. I helped hide it.”

In this haunted house story, the hound isn’t just an animal – it’s a form of hidden sin. When someone makes a mistake and hides it… a hound is born from within.

🌌 Last Day – Open

The next morning, the same claps and claw marks were again in the mansion. But this time they appeared on Mr. Baskar’s head.

He went to Henry for the last time, kissed his hands and said:

“Henry, forgive me. I tried to protect the family, but I failed the truth.”

After those words, a loud roar was heard outside… but this time it wasn’t angry. It was… calm. It was a pride that was admitted.

Mr. Baskar collapsed there with a heart attack, but his face remained calm.

💫 Hound’s Last Glance

At 11:59 PM, I was alone in the mansion hall. Suddenly, a black shadow entered the room and slowly looked at me. I was not afraid.
It came to Henry’s bed next to me… he was asleep.

Then the shadow seemed to look at me and nod its head… it seemed to circle around me. And then… it disappeared silently.

That was the last time the hound ever appeared.

Henry is a normal boy now. Lauren is back at the mansion. When people admit their mistakes… humanity becomes like a hound – it disappears after its job is done.

This isn’t the horror I know… this is a Haunted House Story with a moral lesson .

It was a peaceful morning. Birds were chirping along the clouds in the Marsh Hollow meadows. The Basker Mansion was no longer dark. Lauren smiled softly at the sight of me. Henry sat on the grass with a book — the fear that had always been in his eyes was gone.

This Haunted House Story has now come to an end, but the final twist is still to come.

📦 Mr. Baskar’s last letter

After Mr. Basker died, Lauren received a letter. It was in his handwriting. In the letter:

“Dear Lauren,
I misunderstood you. I thought our family’s honor was important. But hiding the truth doesn’t increase honor – it just adds weight.
You were hurt by my mistake, and Henry was scared.
I may be portrayed as a negative character in this Haunted House Story. But my last resort is to protect you and Henry.
You want freedom, and Henry has the right to live without fear.”

🌳 At the Blackstone Tree – The Ultimate Truth

We all gathered at the Blackstone tree on the path behind the Baskar Mansion. It was there that, under the leaves that Mr. Baskar had mentioned, it was discovered that the skeleton of a boy named Reben was lying. An investigation began under the leadership of a retired police officer.

Mr. Baskar’s verbal confession before his death has been officially recorded. The 50-year-old dark story of the Baskar family’s hidden crime has finally come to light.

This is the true ending to the Haunted House Story. Hiding the darkness makes it disappear. It will return one day.

👨‍👩‍👧 Peace returned to the family

The last week of March. After the mansion opened its doors, many old people and municipal members came there. Henry – now an inspired boy. Lauren – has become an ever-evolving woman.

A greater gift than the compliments I received – turning a haunted house into a history house .

✍️ The last sentence I wrote

I sat on the train traveling to Los Angeles and wrote the last sentence in my diary about this haunted house story:

“There is no hound in this story. There is no crime in this story. There is fear in this story… but ultimately there is truth.
A family that walked in the dark, a soul that came to light,
this haunted house story – it should be recognized not as scary… but as something that causes change.”
